Salary Range: $49,267.20-$100,651.20

Position Location: Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development

The Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to employ one (1) Education Specialist for the Agriscience Education unit.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Assist with the coordination of activities and functions of FFA Districts, including annual district eliminations and activities of District FFA Officers.
  • Assist with the coordination of FFA events including livestock, competitive events, shows, workshops, and partnerships with 4-H Club, Extension Service, and Auburn University.
  • Assist with the coordination of FFA activities to include State FFA Convention, student and advisor workshops, competitive events.
  • Manage the FFA Proficiency Award program.
  • Manage the Agriscience Extended Year Grant.
  • Assist the FFA Executive Secretary and State Advisor.
  • Provide technical assistance to LEAs.
  • Develop business partnerships.
  • Plan and execute professional development activities that support Agriscience and FFA initiatives.
  • Represent and advocate for Agriscience Education internally to ALSDE committees and groups.
  • Attend professional development conferences deemed necessary for the enhancement of CTE, FFA, and Agriscience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Extensive overnight travel required.

Education:

  • A minimum of master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Education.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years teaching experience required.
  • Preference will be given to teaching content in Agriscience Education.
