Position Title: Education Administrator I

Position Code: 30123

Salary Range: $56,971.20-$122,846.40

Position Location: Accountability Section, Montgomery

Open Date: February 2024


The Accountability Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to employ one (1) Education Administrator I.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Management of the accountability systems, review portals and related projects
  • Oversee the calculation, validation and implementation of the Education Report Card
  • Develop, edit and review business rules
  • Analyze, interpret and review data
  • Develop and review validation procedures to ensure accuracy in the reporting of results
  • Develop and review presentations, handbooks and training materials
  • Plan, organize, implement and review professional development activities
  • Complete and review SDE reports, proposals, and administrative documents
  • Prepare and review SDE correspondence to LEAs and the public
  • Provide technical assistance to local education agency and school personnel
  • Monitor, amend and review the accountability-related sections of Alabama’s ESSA Plan, the ALSDE Strategic Plan and other strategic plan initiatives
  • Research state and federal laws and trends in accountability
  • Supervise, train and evaluate assigned section staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area
  • Six (6) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration or a related assignment including four (4) years of professional experience in one of the specialty areas listed on the State Personnel job announcement
  • Psychometrics or mathematics preferred but not required

Experience:

  • Administrative experience preferred but not required
  • Research and data analysis experience required
  • Statistical analysis experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and experience with the accountability program preferred but not required
  • Computer related skills required – Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Computer skills preferred – Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Access
