Salary Range: (7680) $49,267.20-$100,651.20

Position Location: Child Nutrition Program Regional Positions

The Child Nutrition Programs/National School Lunch Programs Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to employ four (4) Education Specialist I (Program Specialists) statewide.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as subject matter expert of state and federal laws, regulations and policies pertaining to the administration and operation of these USDA FNS programs.
  • Recruit and train sponsors on program management, regulations, and compliance so they may participate in the USDA FNS programs and maintain a productive operation.
  • Conduct program monitoring reviews for program sponsors to include but not limited to, planning, coordinating, compiling results and communicate any findings and/or areas of concern with sponsors as well as calculate fiscal action, as appropriate.
  • Oversees assigned specialized areas, such as training, meeting planning, Grant Scoring, Smart Snacks Training/Guidance, Program Review Forms/Guidance, Opening/Closing schools, Professional Standards, Administrative Reviews, Team Building, Webinars and others as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provides technical assistance and customer service to program sponsors and staff members.
  • Review and approve sponsor program applications.
  • Conduct and report outreach efforts/activities.
  • Participate in regional, state, and team meetings to maintain current knowledge of USDA FNS program regulations.
  • Attend at least one state professional association meeting per year and all ALSDE meetings.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, while also working independently.

Education:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an education specialty area

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration, or a CNP-related assignment.
