Position Title:  Administrative Support Assistant III

Position Code: 10198

Salary Range: $32,416.80 – $54,290.40

Position Location: Special Education Services, Gordon Persons Building, Montgomery


The Special Education Services (SES) Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) in Montgomery, intends to fill one (1) Administrative Support Assistant III position.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Provides high-level administrative support to assigned employees.
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets to track important information.
  • Creates, prepares, and formats documents, such as letters, presentations, and reports.
  • Utilizes and trains others to utilize office tools such as DocuSign, time and attendance systems, and state procurement portals.
  • May conduct research (within skills and expertise) to assist with projects or inquiries.
  • Collects requested data and information from various sources including email and other correspondence, meeting minutes and records, and other documents; prepares summaries of findings and/or other related written correspondence as requested.
  • Prepares agendas and schedules for meetings, conferences, and other assigned events; takes and distributes minutes or other notes as requested.
  • Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions.
  • Welcomes and directs visitors.
  • Answers and transfers phone calls, screening when necessary.
  • Performs administrative support duties as requested, which may include recordkeeping and coordinating equipment maintenance.
  • Orients and advises new employees on policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the department.
  • Confers with employees to solve problems relating to coordination of work and other matters.
  • Assumes significant administrative responsibility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or a GED certificate.
  • Five years of progressively responsible clerical work experience.
