Salary Range: $27,955.20 – $45,758.40

Position Location: Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development, Gordon Persons Building, Montgomery, AL

The Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Office of the Alabama State Department of Education in Montgomery, intends to fill one (1) Administrative Support Assistant II position.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Type/format letters, memorandums, proposals, contracts, and office documents.
  • Establish files and keeps files current so that information can be accessed and retrieved easily.
  • Handle telephone duties (to include taking messages, routing calls, and forwarding questions to appropriate individuals within the section/department) and assumes other receptionist duties (including greeting, welcoming, directing visitors) when needed in a professional manner.
  • Calculate numeric information accurately so that reports/materials such as proposals, budgets, contracts, travel claims, and A-2’s are printed and prepared for routing.
  • Operate office equipment and utilizes various computer software programs to produce office documents efficiently.
  • Proofread and edit documents and other materials so that errors in punctuation, content, format, and grammar are identified.
  • Sort, collate, and assemble materials such as conference handouts, departmental/section/unit documents, program materials, and prepares materials for distribution, shipping, and/or storage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High school diploma or a GED certificate

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of responsible clerical work experience

Other Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written, communication and technology skills
  • Excellent skills in formatting word documents and in editing
  • Excellent phone, email, and face-to-face communication skills
  • Attitude of professionalism
  • Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders including ALSDE colleagues
  • A current, valid Alabama license
