Salary Range: $50,253.60 – $102,664.80 / $55,375.20 – $107,824.80

Position Location: Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development, Montgomery, Alabama or Birmingham, Alabama

The Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education is seeking to employ one (1) Education Specialist.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Provide oversite and technical assistance for the CTE program evaluation process – Tool for Assessing Program Effectiveness (TAPE) to include:
    • Coordinate all activities related to the TAPE review process.
    • Train section and school system staff on the TAPE process.
    • Develop, publish, and communicate the annual TAPE review schedule.
    • Provide technical assistance as requested to section and school system staff.
    • Review and provide feedback on program improvement plans (PIPs).
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of each PIP.
    • Develop presentations, instructional videos, and other support materials for the TAPE review process.
  • Manage the Schoology group for CTE Directors.
  • Manage the internal directory of school system Career and Technical Education Directors.
  • Serve as the CTE section’s point of contact for COGNIA, coordinating platform access, training staff, and maintaining ongoing communication with the COGNIA representative.
  • Regularly communicate with regional consultants to provide updates on TAPE and other CTE initiatives.
  • Represent and advocate for CTE internally to ALSDE committees and groups.
  • Attend professional development conferences deemed necessary for the enhancement of CTE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Overnight travel required.

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration, or a related assignment.
  • Candidate must hold an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
