Position Title:  Education Administrator I

Position Code: 30123 Financial Option – 391

Salary Range: $58,111.20-$125,304.00

Position Location: Pupil Transportation TBD (Statewide)

Open Date: April 2025


The Pupil Transportation section of the Alabama State Department of Education (Montgomery) intends to fill one (1) Education Administrator I position.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Determining and monitoring Pupil Transportation funding allocations
  • Determining tax distributions for local school systems and county revenue offices
  • Evaluating annual state route reports from school systems
  • Conducting on-site compliance reviews of school systems
  • Overseeing local school systems to ensure efficiency and accountability
  • Analyzing proposed warrant issues and warrant anticipation notes
  • Providing technical support and accounting guidance to chief school financial officers and local superintendents of education

Education:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college* or university in education, business administration, or a closely related field.
    *Certification as a Chief School Financial Officer from the Alabama Association of School Business Officials offered by the University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies may substitute for the master’s degree. This information must be attached to the application if used to substitute for the master’s degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of six years of experience in educational or governmental finance.

Other Skills:

  • Strong motivation, organization, and data management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently, use problem-solving skills to generate solutions, and create and deliver effective presentations to professional audiences
  • Ability to objectively instruct local school officials concerning allocations and funding
  • Excellent leadership and people/relationship building skills
  • Team oriented with proven ability to work well with others and flexible
  • Ability to travel overnight
