The Office of Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education is seeking to hire one (1) Education Specialist II.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Promotes and practices teamwork within the Career and Technical Education Section (CTE) so that productivity increases, client needs are addressed, and solutions to problems are initiated and followed-up as appropriate at CTE staff and Business and Work-Based Learning unit meetings; serves as a member of at least one major cross-section team assignment per year (i.e. employee Recognition board, CCRS, JLDC, COS, entrepreneurship, etc.).
- Facilitates the CTE program quality evaluation process, so that assigned programs with review dates during the school year receive a desk audit and an on-site review; and ensures that programs receive the technical assistance necessary to clear deficiencies (including documentation of technical assistance for all programs in improvement status) as evidenced by TA reports and appropriate documentation.
- Provides general support to CTSO state leadership conferences as assigned.
- Assist with the Course of Study committee and textbook adoption process as needed for all CTE clusters by working collaboratively with the Office of Instructional Services to ensure that committees are selected, standards are written and reviewed to meet guidelines such as rigor, sequence, formatting, and provide stakeholder training.
- Coordinates the statewide Work-Based Learning updates through professional development and e-communications (i.e. emails and quarterly newsletters), to include required Child Labor Law updates for teacher-coordinators, so that teachers are in compliance with federal and state laws as evidenced by session evaluations.
- Develops a Work-Based Learning manual that will serve as an instructional guide and resource for current and potential teacher coordinators and work with Alabama Institutions of Higher education to develop a work-based learning course that will fulfill the course requirement for the WBL (Work Based Learning) endorsement.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, including all necessary certification related trainings and conferences, that provide information related to the continuous improvement processes, legal requirements for reviews, best practices for implementation, and program area content to include the areas of numeracy and literacy.
- Analyze and report data for various data sources to include student achievement, CTE participation, JobsEQ, Workforce and Labor Market trends, and Work-Based Learning experiences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Candidate must hold an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
