Position Title: Education Administrator I

Salary Range: $58,111.20 – $125,304.00
Position Location: Education Technology Section, Montgomery, Alabama
Open Date: September 2025
The Educational Technology Section intends to fill one (1) Education Administrator I position.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Serve as the E-Rate Coordinator for the state of Alabama
- Provide leadership for LEA Technology Coordinators/Directors and E-Rate contacts in matters related to the E-Rate Program, information technologies & infrastructure and the procurement process
- Engage in a continuous process of improving and streamling E-Rate procedures and Alabama K-12 Joint Purchasing Program Services
- Serve as a liaison between the LEAs and the Universal Services Administrative Company, or USAC (the FCC’s National E-Rate Program administrative entity), providing key LEA & school data and program integrity assistance as needed
- Oversee the development of training materials and programs for new LEA Technology Coordinators and/or E-Rate contacts as well as new materials for experienced coordinators in E-Rate processes and policies
- Coordinate and provide on-going professional development/training events to prepare LEAs in their E-Rate application process to include the use of web conferencing tools
- Oversee the development and maintenance of E-Rate and ALJP databases and web resources
- Represent the ALSDE and LEAs in state and national stakeholder groups including the Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology (ALET), State E-Rate Coordinators Alliance (SECA), Alabama Association of School Business Officials (AASBO), and State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA)
- Develop procurement proposals (RFP/ITB) and resulting State Master Contracts
- Oversee the management of all ALJP State Master Contracts
- Lead the coordination and technical training for technology coordinators and developing and implementing a district technology plan
- Develop proposals for special projects/trainings/workshops
- Engage in a continuous process of improving professional development across the state
- Serve on state level task forces and various ad hoc committees as needed
- Supervise assigned personnel so that work is monitored and section and departmental goals are accomplished
- Participate in state monitoring in the area of Educational Technology, as needed
- Travel required (in-state and out-of-state)
Education:
- Must meet the minimum requirements as noted on the State Personnel Department Job Announcement
Experience:
- Minimum of six years’ experience required. Preferred combined experience of at least ten (10) years in education in teaching and/or administration in the areas of technology management, instructional technology, or network administration.
- Experience as a technology coordinator/director preferred
- Knowledge and experience in training
- Knowledge and experience in E-rate, ALJP, and procurement processes required
- Computer related skills required – Microsoft Office
- Working with Computer Applications preferred
