Salary Range: $50,253.60-$102,664.80

Position Location: Birmingham, Alabama

The Support Services Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), intends to hire one (1) Education Specialist I.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Communicate written and oral information to immediate supervisor, staff, and public stakeholders.
  • Provide professional learning opportunities to leaders implementing the Mental Health Tele-Counseling Services.
  • Develop presentations and conduct training sessions with and for LEAs.
  • Conduct virtual professional training for LEAs, as well phone meetings.
  • Review selected vendors to ensure requirements of the law are met before LEAs utilize them.
  • Attend sessions to stay current on all applicable aspects related to the mental health field and the implementation of the law.
  • Complete the compliance monitoring portion related to the Tele-Mental Health section.
  • Compute numeric information so that travel reimbursements, time sheets and other reports are produced and routed without a valid delay.
  • Conduct office functions to include, but not limited to, proofreading, editing, and revising to avoid errors in punctuation, grammar, formatting, routing, and other functions as appropriate to effectively support the work of the Department’s initiatives assigned to Support Services/Tele-mental Health in accordance with the supervisor’s directives.
  • Operate office equipment and utilize various computer software programs to produce office documents efficiently.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Must meet the minimum requirements as noted on the State Personnel Department Job Announcement

Experience:

  • Must meet the minimum requirements as noted on the State Personnel Department Job Announcement.
  • Experience in district-level leadership as a Mental Health Coordinator, preferred.
