Salary Range: $50,253.60 – $102,664.80

Position Location: Student Information Systems, Regional Position (Statewide)

The Student Information Systems section of the Alabama State Department of Education (Montgomery) intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist I position.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Analyze, resolve gaps, and provide support to the ALSDE and assigned LEAs regarding all student information systems product functionality.
  • Conduct training sessions and develop training materials in various formats to support student information systems users across the state as evidenced by emails, websites, videos, help guides, etc. developed and shared based on state and district needs.
  • Support and assist the implementation of the Student Information System program including maintenance of the student information systems training server. Continue to improve by attending assigned training and completing training in PowerSchool PD Campus.
  • Write documents such as letters, guides, tutorials, manuals, and brochures so that drafts or final copies of precise written instructions and information are written with accuracy in content, format, and style; and completed within the timeline designed and observed by the supervisor.
  • Communicate with the staff agency staff, public, local education agency (LEA) staff, and state agency officials so that information is clear, concise, and accurate with no occasion of valid complaint observed by the supervisor.
  • Identify and provide support for data validations in the Student Information Systems to prevent data quality issues.
  • Provide support for training projects as evidenced by the creation, management, and maintenance of digital training tools that can be posted, updated, and used on an ongoing basis. Maintain a current version of training documents on Student Information Systems Products.
  • Communicate with supervisor(s) and submit requested reports so he/she is informed of activities, problems, and concerns relevant to the section as evidenced by various reporting formats, emails, agendas, and other communications.
  • Provides support and assistance for LEAs to proactively identify internal technology/data issues. Offers resolution support and plans professional development, as needed, in a timely and cost efficient manner without valid complaints.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Special Education administration, or a related assignment including three years of professional experience.

Other Skills:

  • Strong motivation, organization, and data management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently, use problem-solving skills to generate solutions, and create and deliver effective presentations to professional audiences
  • Ability to objectively instruct, evaluate, & assist Special Education/Gifted/EL Coordinators
  • Excellent leadership and people/relationship building skills
  • Team oriented with proven ability to work well with others and flexible
  • Ability to travel overnight
