Position Title: Education Specialist I

Salary Range: $50,253.60-$102,664.80

Position Location:Gordon Persons Building, Montgomery, Alabama

The Educational Technology Section of the State Department of Education (Montgomery) is accepting applications for an Education Specialist I in the ACCESS Virtual Learning Program. The ideal candidate would have experience conducting professional development on a large scale, an understanding of ACCESS Virtual Learning, and experience with student engagement best practices in the virtual learning environment as well as experience in career and technical education.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Lead process for compliance for ACCESS Virtual Learning.
  • Lead the ACCESS Virtual Learning student support and engagement implementation process across the state.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for ACCESS Support Centers as it relates to implementing new or revised ACCESS Virtual Learning courses.
  • Assist with planning and organizing the Alabama Educational Technology Conference (AETC).
  • Collaborate with ACCESS course delivery to ensure high-quality course development and alignment to program guides as applicable.
  • Provide support for online course development, upgrades, sequencing, and alignment to meet Alabama course of study and quality online course requirements.
  • Provide service, leadership, and support to ACCESS Virtual Learning through workshops and leading virtual Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for ACCESS Support Centers.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers, providing requested reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Utilize office software programs to increase efficiency in correspondence, communication, and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide technical assistance to an assigned region, assisting with the delivery of training and professional development as it relates to ACCESS Virtual Learning and/or other EdTech programs.
  • Collaborate with other ALSDE sections to ensure ACCESS Virtual Learning courses meet or exceed program requirements while specifically serving as a liaison between Educational Technology and Career and Technical Education sections.
  • Assist with the ACCESS program accreditation process and represent the ACCESS virtual learning program in a variety of local, state, and national committees.
  • Serve as an EdTech regional representative and assist with EdTech compliance requirements as needed.

Education:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Career and Technical Education Teaching Certification Preferred

Experience:

  • Ten years of professional experience in teaching, education administration, or a related assignment
  • Background in Career and Technical Education (CTE) preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)
  • Computer-related skills required – Microsoft Office, Google, Schoology
  • Experience with Tools for Assessing Program Effectiveness (TAPE)
  • Experience with organizing and planning educational conferences, professional development and/or other professional development events
