The Office of Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education is seeking to hire one (1) Education Administrator I.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Promote and Facilitate Teamwork: Practice teamwork within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) section and the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE. Collaborate with colleagues, assist with projects, address stakeholder needs, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Supervise Staff: Oversee Health Science, Education and Training, Hospitality and Tourism, Human Services staff by managing task assignments, supervising work, approving travel and itineraries, evaluating performance, and using time management, organizational skills, and technology to enhance efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Alabama HOSA and FCCLA State Administrator: Serve as the State Administrator for the HOSA Board of Directors and the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Advisory Council by attending meetings and performing duties as outlined in organization bylaws. Maintain and develop partnerships with stakeholders to support Health Science and FCS activities. Communicate advisory committee goals and outcomes to teachers as evidenced by stakeholder feedback.
  • Health Science and Family and Consumer Sciences Curricula: Oversee the implementation of the Health Science and Family and Consumer Sciences Course of Study, ensuring that the curriculum, equipment lists, plans of instruction, and textbook are current and accessible to teachers and stakeholders.
  • Update and Publish Program Guides: Revise and publish program guides for all sixteen CTE clusters, including Cosmetology, and post them on the ALSDE website annually. Ensure that accurate information is disseminated to Local Education Agencies (LEAs).
  • CTE Month Communication Plan: Facilitate the annual update and distribution of the CTE Month Proclamation and Communication Plan for external stakeholders.
  • ALACTE Liaison and Summer Professional Development Coordinator: Serve as the ALACTE liaison by collaborating with the ALACTE Executive Director. Plan and execute the annual CTE summer professional development conference.
  • Oversee EQIP Process and Content Development: Supervise assigned team’s execution of the EQIP process for assigned clusters, ensuring that desk audits, on-site TAPE reviews, and technical assistance are conducted to fidelity. Provide oversight and support as needed to ensure all documentation is completed and submitted.
  • Update Alabama Administrative Code: Revise and update the CTE section of the Administrative Code to align with the latest Perkins V legislation and guidance provided to CTE Directors.
  • Other Projects: Complete other projects, assignments, and duties as directed by the Section Coordinator of Career and Technical Education.
  • Travel: Overnight travel required.
