Salary Range: $50,253.60 – $102,664.80

Position Location: Office of Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Workforce Development, Montgomery or Birmingham, AL

Open Date: January 2026


The Office of Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist position.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Promotes and practices teamwork within the Career and Technical Education section so that productivity increases, client needs are addressed, and solutions to problems are initiated and followed up as appropriate at CTE staff and Family and Consumer Sciences meetings.
  • Facilitates the CTE program quality evaluation process, so that assigned programs with review dates during the school year receive a desk audit and an on-site review; and ensures that programs receive the technical assistance necessary to clear deficiencies (including documentation of technical assistance for all programs in improvement status) as evidenced by TA reports and appropriate documentation.
  • Facilitates the planning, development, implementation, and follow-up activities for the course of study within assigned Cluster(s). Provides actionable feedback, meets deadlines, and communicates effectively with committee members.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements statewide professional development for teachers such as regional in-service workshops, summer conferences, and virtual sessions.
  • Provides technical assistance to local education agencies (LEAs).
  • Develop business partnerships and serve on related committees.
  • Organizes and conducts CTE-Teacher Certification Program Level I and CTE-TCP 101.
  • Communicate with post-secondary institutions to provide opportunities within assigned cluster(s).
  • Provides support for Alabama CTSO activities to include processing Alabama CTSO membership records and assisting with State CTSO Convention activities.
  • Serve as coordinator for Alabama and National CTSO competitions in assigned cluster(s).
  • Coordinates one of the three Alabama CTSO District conferences, including district planning and contests.
  • Ability to travel overnight.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Must meet the minimum requirements as noted on the State Personnel Department Job Announcement for Education Specialist I.

Experience:

  • Must meet the minimum requirements as noted on the State Personnel Department Job Announcement for Education Specialist I.
  • Candidate must hold an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
