This document is intended to help guide IEP Teams to decide whether the ACAP Alternate, an alternate assessment program based on alternate achievement standards, is the proper assessment for a student with the most significant cognitive disabilities. The ACAP Alternate was developed to ensure that all students can take part in an assessment that is a measure of what students know and can do in relation to the grade-level state content standards.

The Career and Technical Education -Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator is for individuals who hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in a career and technical education teaching field, Bachelor’s Equivalent 2 or higher Career and Technical Certificate, or a Professional Leadership Certificate and meet certain experience and coursework requirements may seek additional Alabama Professional Educator Certificate as a Work Based Learning Coordinator.

The Career and Technical Education -Temporary Certificates cannot be requested by an individual. The Career and Technical Education Temporary Certificate may ONLY be requested by an employing Alabama county/city superintendent for an individual who meets outlined requirements. This is a two-year certificate that can be reissued once if requirements are met. This certificate does not lead to the Degree Equivalent Certificate or to Alabama professional certification.

The Career and Technical Certificate Degree Equivalent – Technical Education route allows individuals to progress through five levels of certification. The Degree Equivalent Technical Education initial certificate (Bachelor’s Equivalent 1) must be requested by an employing city/county superintendent in certain 6-12 career and technical program areas. This route offers the opportunity to advance toward higher pay when requirements are met for each level of certification.
